Cookies
The PaganSpace website uses what is known as a "session" to keep track of visitors. Each visitor to the site is assigned a session ID, which lasts from the first time a visitor loads a page from the site until the time that the visitor closes the web browsing application used to view the page. Some browsers will log this as a cookie.
If a cookie is created, it will contain no information about the visitor. All of this information is kept on the server and corresponds to the session ID. For visitor who do not log in, this information merely notes that you are a visitor and that you have not logged in. Once a visitor logs in, the visitors's name, user number, ID, organization, password, and access level are matched to the session ID. This information is not stored on the visitor's machine and can be reset to "visitor" by logging out.

Visitors
For the purposes of this privacy statement, "visitor" refers to anyone who loads any page on the PaganSpace website, regardless of whether they log in with a user ID and password.
Visitors to the PaganSpace website are tracked using the AXS Visitor Tracking System, which logs a considerable amount of data, including IP address, hostname, browser type, the page loaded, the page (if any) that referred you to the current page, and the time and date of visit. This information is not used to identify individual visitors or gather any information about individuals, but instead create a statistical picture of visitors to the site and their usage patterns. This information will be used to see how we can best improve our site.
A couple of additional notes:
Certain web-based e-mail sites include the user ID (e-mail address) of the visitor in the URL. If this is the case, that ID may appear in our logs as part of the referring URL. While there is nothing we can do to prevent this, you may rest assurred that we will not search for such instances, or extract your address from our logs. If you are concerned that this will affect you, you can look at the current URL in your browser to see if your ID appears there. If so, any website that tracks incoming URLs will recieve this data. You can bypass this by manually typing the URL (or using copy/paste) into the appropriate field.
If you are accessing this site through a proxy server, socks server, or from behind a firewall, the information for that server will be logged instead of your own. (This also applies to many handheld computer web browsers, including Handspring Blazer and AvantGo, which go through a server that optimizes the content for your handheld.) Browser information and referrer URL will generally not be affected.

Users
For the purposes of this privacy statement, "user" refers to anyone who logs in with a user id and password.
We collect somewhat more information about our users-- users have the ability to enter personal information about themselves and in some cases the organizations that they represent. With the exception of name and e-mail address, all of this information is optional (and indeed, there are no rules against using a pseudonym in place of your name).
Any information provided is used for the purposes of building the PaganSpace Directory. Using the PaganSpace Control Panel, users may control who may access this information, or indeed set this information to "Private." Private information is only available to Group Administrators (in the case of users who access level is set to "User"), Group Owners (in the case of "User" and "Administrator" level users), and PaganSpace administration (all users).
One Note:
When passwords are sent to a user from the PaganSpace site, the IP address (and the name, if this request is sent by a Group Owner or Administrator using the control panel) of the requestor will be included in the e-mail sent to the user. PaganSpace keeps no records of this data, and, unless the e-mail should "bounce", will not see this information at all.

Sharing of Information
Under no circumstances will PaganSpace sell, trade, or give information about individual visitors or users without their express permission or a court order.
Unsolicited E-mail
PaganSpace reserves the right to periodically advise registered users of new features, updates to existing features, and important news. These e-mails will be kept to a minimum, and PaganSpace will not send such e-mail on behalf of other organizations, companies, or individuals.

Exceptions to the Above
In the event someone attempts to compromise the security of the PaganSpace website and/or the database that drives it, PaganSpace reserves the right to take all necessary actions to identify the culprit and prosecute them to the fullest extent of the law.
